The Genoa - An Italian Bastard Sword of the late 1300 hundreds with the Purple Colours of Purple.

Life in the Italian City States could turn violent at any time. There was fierce competition involving territory and trade plus the added threat on the shipping lanes in the Mediterranean from the Ottoman Empire, so most men went armed at all times. This sword is both attractive and highly functional. The long ricasso adds stiffness to the blade and allows for one finger over the guard for good point control, while the light hollow grind helps to keep the weight down as well as adding to the strength of the blade. The sword can easily be used with one hand, but by gripping the upper wire wrapped portion of the grip and the base of the facetted sent stopper shaped pommel it can deliver even stronger two-handed cuts. The grip is wrapped in dark purple leather and the wood core scabbard with its decorative steel parts is cover in leather to match. Design for you by Bruce Brookhart.
