Irish Sword, hand and a half version, a Kingdom of Arms and Bruce Brookhart design, dating around late 1400 to middle to end of 1500 A.D.
Now with a green scabbard.
This late period Irish longsword is elegant in line, form and function. As on the continent, even if a little slower, the Irish sword evolved as combat forms changed. This sword is excellent for a cut and thrust, two-handed combat style but is still light enough to be used in one hand. Being a true hand and a half sword means that the lower part of the pommel must also be griped with the upper hand. The wood grip is wrapped in green leather and then the upper section is over-wrapped with a fine, twisted steel wire for a very positive grip. The blade is long and thin making the sword very fast in use. Designed by Bruce A. Brookhart the sword comes to you sharp and includes a high-quality wood scabbard covered in leather with steel parts.
