The Wakefield Knightly Medieval Bastard Sword. Named from the Battle of Wakefield, which took place in Sandal Magna near Wakefield in northern England, on 30 December 1460. It was a major battle of the Wars of the Roses.
Designed for the hard fighting warriors that were trained in the same combat disciplines as "The Medieval Knight", often formed the backbone of armies thru out the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The first offering, designed by Bruce Brookhart, is this Bastard Sword. Well balanced enough to be easily used with one hand it really comes into its own with two hands. The base of elongated pommel must be griped with the top of the grip to allow for use thus making this a “true” Bastard Sword.
